PLAN YOUR STAY · BROKEN BOW, OKLAHOMA
Things to Do in Broken Bow When It Rains
Indoor outings, a little music, and time together back at the cabin.

Bowling, escape rooms and a live magic show give you plenty of things to do in Broken Bow when it rains. For a couples getaway, you can also work in wine tasting and charcuterie at Fish Tales, catch live music, or spend an afternoon with records and a long bath at the cabin. Check the music calendar before choosing an evening out, then leave time to enjoy the cabin, too.
Most of the outings below are in Hochatown and the Beavers Bend visitor area north of Broken Bow town. Use the venue's location link or your booking confirmation when planning the drive; a Broken Bow postal address doesn't always mean downtown.
Find an outing that fits your day

For a daytime or midweek plan, start with the museum or indoor games, checking opening days and available sessions rather than relying on an evening lineup.
Indoor games in Hochatown
Bowl together at Gutter Chaos
Gutter Chaos has standard and duckpin bowling, plus an indoor arcade if you're ready for another game. It's an easy choice when you want something playful: a few frames, a little competition and someone insisting the next round will go differently.
Bowling sessions run 55 minutes. You can try for a walk-in lane or reserve ahead if you'd like a set start time. Arrive at least 15 minutes before a reservation so you have time to get ready. The arcade and lanes give you indoor options; save the deck and outdoor games for suitable weather.
Find Gutter Chaos at 25 Orca Road in Hochatown.
Follow the clues at Hochatown Escape Games
An escape room gives you a shared task and an hour to work it out. At Hochatown Escape Games, you can choose among themes that include a Wild West adventure and suspenseful cabin mysteries. Read the descriptions together and pick a story you're both curious about.
Most rooms accept two players, and the venue says it doesn't pair your booking with another group. Check the chosen room's capacity and book ahead. You'll need to arrive at least 15 minutes early for the briefing.
There are Lukfata and Stevens Gap locations, with some room names appearing at both. Follow the address on your confirmation.
Explore the Forest Heritage Center at your own pace
For a change from games and shows, visit the Forest Heritage Center inside Beavers Bend State Park. Its indoor exhibits bring together local forest history, wood art and narrated dioramas. Browse together and pause at whatever catches your attention. The museum offers self-guided visits at 4350 South State Highway 259A; check current visiting information before heading over.
Wine tasting and charcuterie at Fish Tales
Fish Tales Winery & Bistro offers a different pace: wine tasting and a charcuterie board to share. Compare the wines you each enjoy, browse the selection and give yourselves time to linger over the board.
Indoor tasting and seating make this an option when it rains. Tastings don't take reservations, so keep the timing flexible. You'll find it at 17 Oak Leaf Lane, near the southern Highway 259A intersection. Arrange your ride before drinking.
Make an evening of a show, live music or dancing
Take your seats at Hester's Theatre of Magic
At Hester's Theatre of Magic, the outing is the performance itself: sleight of hand, illusions and audience interaction in a seated theatre. It makes a good evening plan if you'd like to put your phones away and watch something unfold together.
Shows run 75 or 90 minutes, depending on the performance. Choose a date through the official ticket link and buy ahead; tickets at the door depend on remaining seats. Arrive at least 15 minutes early, allowing extra time for traffic on Highway 259.
The theatre is at 8825 North Highway 259 in Hochatown. Its snack bar doesn't serve alcohol, making this a straightforward option for an evening without drinking.
Find a band or a dance floor
For a livelier night, look at Hochatown Saloon's event lineup. On weekend nights, tables move aside inside the restaurant to make room for dancing. Some nights feature live bands; others have a DJ. Pick the music you want to hear and check the show's tickets and seating options before heading over.
The Saloon is at 28 Old Hochatown Road. Plan on 21+ after 9 p.m.; under-21 admission is limited to events offering a special ticket and requires a parent or legal guardian.
Mountain Fork Brewery's calendar is another place to find live music, at 89 North Lukfata Trail Road. Look for a performance during your stay and check the event details and weather arrangements before heading over.
Come back to records, firelight and a long soak
At Hearth & Heritage, an afternoon inside can be part of the trip you look forward to. Choose a record together, then play a round of a board game before you start dinner. Or settle into a book by the indoor fireplace while your partner picks the next album. The kitchen gives you room to cook together and let dinner take its time.
Later, draw a bath in the indoor soaking tub. Leave the dishes for a little while and enjoy being away from the usual list of things to do. There's room for an outing and a slow evening, or a whole day spent comfortably inside.

A flexible rainy-day itinerary for two
Start with breakfast and coffee at the cabin, then head out for bowling or an escape room. Come back for lunch and an afternoon with a book or a bath. If you're still in the mood to go out, build the evening around a show or a music night you've checked ahead.
You could also swap the games for wine tasting and charcuterie at Fish Tales, or keep the daytime quiet and save your energy for dancing. These are ways to shape the day, with plenty of room to change your mind.

A few questions before you go
Can couples do an escape room with just two people?
Yes. Hochatown Escape Games says most rooms accept two and bookings aren't paired with other groups. Confirm the room you choose before reserving.
Which rainy-day outings work without drinking?
Bowling, escape games, the Forest Heritage Center and Hester's magic show all offer a shared activity without making alcohol part of the outing. At the cabin, try cooking, games, records or the indoor soaking tub.
Are all these activities fully indoors?
The bowling lanes, escape rooms, museum exhibits and theatre are indoor choices, and the Saloon describes an indoor weekend dance-floor setup. Fish Tales has indoor tasting and seating. For Mountain Fork live music, check the selected event's setting and weather arrangements. The Hochatown maze is outdoors, so keep it for suitable weather.
